Welcome to N5ASA's Contesting Website!

Six Meters (6m) is one of my favorite bands to work VHF Contests, If your not on Six yet, your missing allot of Fun! 6m is the bottom of the band where Technician Class operators can have a chance to work some nice DX! If you are already on 6m, Please continue to Challenge your day-to-day operating and encourage your friends to participate.

I am not a avid contester, but I do like to work a few of them ..HF & VHF/UHF, when I get the chance. It also a good time to work that rare Grid or country you been looking for, seems on contest day Hams come out of the wood work! so a good time to work that rare DX.

I remember my first CQ WW contest a couple years back, between the thunder showers, I got to operate for about 4-5 hours... I made 250 contacts and worked 200 countries, 160m to 10m! It was nice to be on the end of a Pile-up! Almost a new country every time I made a contact..amazing!

Murffey at work!

Working 6m (six meters):

Normally the exchange is Call sign,Grid (grids square) and RST (signal report), other times an operator might want your Name, State or County/Parish and country you live in.

If you are not sure what your Grid Square is Click here: Grid Square Calculator

You want to log: Call,Name,Grid,Time (UTC),Date (UTC Date),Mode (SSB,CW ect.) RST (Signal Report).

In Contest Mode, it is a shorter exchange: Call,Grid & RST

Using a Good Contest Software is a must for making quick contacts! I use ALL of Scott - N3FJP's Contest Logging software easy to use & Window based. Downloads: www.n3fjp.com They are quick and simple to use. Scott and his wife Kimberly has worked hard to make it simple and easy to use! He has Great support, they have about 50 programs, General ACLog, Contest Software, some Free software also. You can download his Logging Software, and try it before you buy it and for a very reasonable price. Best deal is to buy his whole package! you won't believe the price.

N3FJP Software Registration Package without CD - $39.00

This Purchase Option includes registration of all the amateur software. You can download the programs as needed from their individual pages on this website. It also includes registration of any additional Amateur Radio software programs that are added to the package. The CD is not included in this option. This Option is also a great deal! To register all of the software individually would cost $344.00!

N3FJP Software Package & CD - $49.00 (shipping/handling included)

There are allot of other Logging software programs out, some user friendly some Not, some windows based, some DOS, feel free to try others, but I personally prefer Scotts - N3FJP's.......simple, easy & a Great Price!

Note: When I Started contesting in 2001 ARRL's June VHF/UHF Contest, I have Won! First Place single Op, Low power on 6m in my Louisiana section in the years 2001,2003,2004,2005 & 2006.... Using N3FJP's VHF Log contesting program, I don't think I could done it with out it......CU on the Magic Band!

Updaate: I won 1st place, single op, Low Power during the 2006 SMIRK Contest
